Some fun things do in Phoenix during the holidays include the Opening Parade of the Fantasy of Lights on 11/29/2019!

The 25th Annual Fantasy of Lights Opening Night Parade is one of the fun things to do in Phoenix during the holiday season. This event has become a family tradition in Downtown Tempe which will kick off the holiday season. The event will start at 4:00 P.M. and last until 9:00 P.M. This will be a night of entertainment, live performances and holiday shopping for everyone to enjoy.

Fun Things to do during the Parade

The parade will start at Centerpoint Plaza at 4:00 P.M. and will end at Mill Avenue and 3rd Street at 6:00 P.M. After the parade, the event will have a grand finale with the Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Some of the fun activities include:

  • Street Parade Units: Participants in this event are automatically qualified to join the competition. The theme for this year’s parade is Silver Bells! Cash prizes of $500 will be given away for the best unit winners per category. The following categories include:
    • Best Use of Lights
    • The Best New Entry
    • Best Special Effects
    • The Best Music
    • Best Themed – Silver Bells
    • Most Original Unit

  • Give Back: Donate an unopened jar of peanut butter to the  Tempe Community Action Agency‘s Peanut Butter Drive. An award will be given for ‘Most Jars of Peanut Butter Collected’. The winner of this award will present a one-of-a-kind trophy from Tempe Community Action Agency.
  • Holiday Market: Eat, drink and shop local handmade goods from various vendors located on 4th Street & Mill Ave.
  • Tree Lighting Ceremony: Join Santa Claus and Tempe City Council as they open the holiday season with the lighting of Downtown Tempe’s 40-foot holiday tree.
  • Entertainment: Enjoy more live music from local artists.
